George Rathie has joined the DBS Internet Marketing team as an apprentice and will be learning about the role of an Internet Marketing Assistant over the coming months. This will include practical training and will give him an insight into several different areas of our business, with a particular emphasis on Pay-Per-Click advertising.
Google have announced changes to the Google Maps Platform which powers the maps and driving directions on websites.Google Maps was a totally free service and you weren’t required to provide any billing details to use it on your website.On June 11th 2018 the Google Maps service will change. There will be a free tier with an extremely generous usage allowance before any charges apply. However, Google will now require your billing details - even within the free tier.If you find that after June 11th the maps on your website aren’t displaying the way they should then please contact us and we will do our best to provide a solution.If you have any questions prior to June 11th then please contact us.
Members of the DBS team will be attending and exhibiting at the Nicholson’s Small Business Conference this Thursday, 8th March. Held at the Drill Hall in Lincoln, from 8am to 12 noon, Julie Priestley and Matt Rayner will join over 90 delegates in attendance to hear from expert speakers and take part in networking opportunities.
DBS is celebrating this week after coming home winners from the prestigious FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards. The FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards celebrates smaller businesses and are a chance for those businesses to shine, stand out from the crowd and make their mark within their geographical area. DBS took home the ‘Community Business of the Year’ award for the entire East Midlands area, an award which looks to honour those businesses who “partake in initiatives that support their local community or makes a positive impact through employee led activities”. The ceremony took place at the Doubletree by Hilton in Nottingham on Thursday 8th February and was attended by DBS Director, David Clarke. DBS is proud of its corporate social responsibility programme (CSR) contributing locally and internationally to worth causes. In recent years DBS has been involved with community led projects such as the Navenby and Cliff Villages Business Network and the popular Christmas In Navenby event. DBS also provides website support to the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and local charity, Star Trust. Forging strong bonds with local schools and universities, DBS has also been involved in mentoring schemes at the University of Lincoln, Bishop Grosseteste University and with the Mission Mentor scheme, as well as providing work experience opportunities for students at the Priory Academy LSST and Sir William Robertson Academy. Last year, DBS gave back to its own employees by becoming Lincolnshire’s first Employee Owned Company, a move which drew praise from FSB Judges for it’s “ambitious model”. DBS are pleased to welcome Billy Burrows to the team. Billy is our new Web Project Assistant and will be helping to prepare and oversee the creation of clean and functional websites for our clients. Billy studied at the nearby Sir William Robertson Academy in Welbourn, Lincolnshire, before moving to Newark in 2009 and gaining key experience as a Web Developer at companies based in both Newark and Tuxford, Nottinghamshire. Billy now lives in Navenby, Lincolnshire close by to our main offices. Outside of work Billy is a “huge Derby County fan” and a committed season ticket holder. When he’s not cheering on “The Rams” at Pride Park, Billy enjoys PC gaming and keeping up to date with the latest web development techniques.
